Don't want to kiss their co-star actors

Celebrities are known for being the most attractive people on Earth. It’s a big part of why they became celebrities in the first place. They need to be marketably handsome and beautiful. They need to make people want to see the films and shows they are in. They need to have those lusting after them purchase just about everything they produce. It’s all marketing, and their looks are a large part of that marketing.

Well, would you believe it if you were told that some of these Hollywood stars didn’t want to kiss each other? It’s pretty rare - and most actors are professionals who will put their personal wants and needs aside for the betterment of a script that calls for them to kiss someone they really aren’t into - but it's been known to happen!

Believe it or not, just because you and your costar may be some of the most attractive people on the planet doesn’t mean you want to stick your tongue down their throat.

Here are

16 Actors Who DID NOT Want To Kiss Their Co-Stars.

16

Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner

These

Twilight

stars were once considered teen heartthrobs that had everyone in a tizzy. Would Bella choose Edward and the vampires or would she be seduced by Jacob and the werewolves? Choices, choices.

It’s a good thing Kristen Stewart’s character went with the vampires in the end because she found

kissing Taylor Lautner to be quite the task

. “Taylor [and I] have so much fun with this stuff because our intimate moments are so few and far between and weird.” Stewart said that her main issue with kissing Lautner was because it felt out of character. She said that kissing Jacob “was so against everything that Bella's always been.”

She really took this role seriously, didn’t she? It appears she didn’t mind cozying up to Pattinson, as the two went on to date in real life after the film was done.

15

Dane Cook and Kate Hudson

When these two people starred in a comedy atrocities

My Best Friend’s Girl

, they knew they were signing up for some racy scenes. Dane Cook played a dude who was hooking up with his best friend’s girlfriend, and played the total sleazeball to a tee.

When it came time for their kissing scenes to be filmed, Kate Hudson would eat a ton of onions in order to get a rise out of famous funnyman Cook. It seems Hudson was doing this all in good fun, but Cook was definitely not a fan of lip-locking the stank-breathed beauty.

“Worst on screen kiss ever,”

Cook told ABC News

. It looks like Hudson’s plan to annoy him worked out perfectly. If you think you’re going to kiss Kate Hudson and get away with it, think again!

14

Thandie Newton and Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise has been a Hollywood hunk for decades now. His career is varied - and incredible, considering he had a little bit of a meltdown on Oprah a few years ago. Regardless, he has been and still remains a star with a name that puts butts in seats.

But when it came time for him to smooch his

Mission Impossible 2

co-star Thandie Newton, things didn’t go as smoothly as he had hoped. Newton was not a fan of Cruise’s kissing style and found it very off-putting.

“I'd really go home at the end of the day actually moaning about how hot it was and how many times we had to do it,”

she said about kissing Cruise

. Apparently, Tom Cruise is a very wet and sloppy kisser, which is never good.

13

Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey

The main characters of the iconic film

Dirty Dancing

had an on-screen love affair that many people grew up idolizing. It appeared their chemistry was off the charts, and it was a love that many films tried to replicate after, but none were ever able to match the extraordinary chemistry of Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

It’s just further proof that these two were amazing actors, because when

Grey talked about the film to

Glamour

, she revealed that she didn’t think her and her co-star shared any chemistry at all.

“I was cast before he was. He came in [to test] along with a bunch of other guys. I didn't think we had chemistry. But you either do or you don't. It's a weird thing, though. It doesn't have to do with whether you like someone or not. It's just you either have it or you don't.”

12

Helena Bonham Carter and Woody Allen

Who would have ever thought these two would have a hot and steamy on-screen romance? Helena Bonham Carter is known for playing incredibly eccentric characters and Woody Allen is an old, neurotic, constantly self-conscious man in all of his films.

Alas, when these two starred together in

Mighty Aphrodite

, there was a scene where they had to kiss each other,

which was apparently a nightmare for Bonham Carter

. She loathed the experience due to all of the strange rules that were included in the scene.

"He tells you upfront certain ways of kissing he does not want. No exchange of liquid is permitted. It can be a bit offensive because he makes no effort at all. It's like kissing the Berlin Wall."

Who would have expected Woody Allen to be a great kisser though? No one? Exactly.

11

Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan

Reading these two names together is just the most hilarious thing anyone could ever see. These two are supposed to be playing a passionately in-love couple with a taste for fetish. Their BDSM romance is the crux of the

Fifty Shades of Grey

films, so to hear that they hated just about every second of it makes us want to giggle.

The film version of the popular book series left many people disappointed, and there’s a reason for that. Apparently Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan hated each other. They had incredibly awkward press tours for the film, and their on-screen romance was cited as having zero chemistry at all.

The two tried to deny their lack of chemistry, but just about everyone could see through the lies. These two are whatever the opposite of peanut butter and jelly are. They just do not go well together.

10

Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson

Hollywood heartthrob Robert Pattinson will not be getting any awards for his real-life kissing skills if Reese Witherspoon has anything to say about it. Tons of girls were all about the former vampire-man but Witherspoon crushed all hope when

she had to talk about her on-screen smooching

while the two were filming

Water for Elephants

. Luckily, most of it can be attributed to a cold.

“Rob possibly had the most hideous horrible cold of any co-star I’ve ever had to do a love scene with ever in my entire life. He was literally snorting and snotting through every second of it – and it was not appealing. I’m talking green, infectious, disgusting.”

Even Pattinson admitted that it was less-than-stellar and that he felt bad about the experience. At least the dude is self-aware, even if he embarrassed himself while kissing an Oscar-winner.

9

Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte

Not only did Julia Roberts hate kissing Nick Nolte, but the pair apparently had a behind-the-scenes feud that will live in film infamy for a long, long time. Even to this day, they have beef, which goes to show just how much this couple hated working together.

Anyway, while filming

I Love Trouble

, the

cast ran into some trouble

. The two hated each other so much that after a while, they filmed their scenes separately and used stand-ins in order to give the appearance that they were in a scene together. Suffice to say, the pair was not looking forward to their on-screen kiss.

Roberts called Nolte “disgusting,” which is never a word you want to hear about yourself. Nolte replied with, “She’s not a nice person, everyone knows that.”

8

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper

When it came time for Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence to kiss, the pair left the scene very unsatisfied with their kissing chemistry. Lawrence had some harsh words for Cooper’s technique,

referring to him as a “wet kisser.”

Cooper was taken aback by the criticism, and replied, “You don’t want to hear that. It was not a compliment.” Cooper was named People's Sexiest Man Alive in 2011, so hearing that he’s a bad kisser is a blow to the people who gave him that honor. Maybe they should have done some more research into the subject.

Surely Cooper rebounded from this incident, took the note and became a better kisser later on in life. Jennifer Lawrence, however, well... let’s just say things don’t go so well for her when it comes to her on-screen kissing.

7

Jennifer Lawrence and her Hunger Games Co-Stars

Not only did Josh Hutcherson hate kissing Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth wasn’t a fan either. Hollywood’s "It girl" can dish out the kissing criticism, but can she take it?

Hutcherson said that

kissing Lawrence was not a good experience

, and described her as a “slobbery” kisser. My, how the tables have turned!

Liam Hemsworth

didn’t enjoy kissing her for an entirely different reason

. “She's one of my best friends, I love her, but if we had a kissing scene, she would make a point of eating garlic or tuna fish or something that was disgusting. Right before the scene she'd be like, 'Yeah, I ate tuna' or 'I had garlic, and I didn't brush my teeth.' And I'd be like, 'Fantastic, I can't wait to get in there and taste it!'"

6

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt

J. Law can’t stay off this list, can she? Let’s just agree that she never has to do another kissing scene again, okay?

When it came time for her sex scene with Chris Pratt in the sci-fi film

Passengers

, Lawrence was incredibly worried and apprehensive about the experience. She wasn’t comfortable laying the mack on a married man, so what did she do? She got incredibly drunk in order to film those scenes to loosen herself up.

“I got really, really drunk. But then that led to more anxiety when I got home, because I was like, 'What have I done? I don't know,' "

she told

The Hollywood Reporter

. "And he was married. And it was going to be my first time kissing a married man, and guilt is the worst feeling in your stomach."

5

Jason Segal and Alyson Hannigan

When these two first had to kiss on the set of

How I Met Your Mother

, Hannigan raised an issue immediately. She hated kissing Segal because he was a smoker.

She wasn’t a fan of tasting the cigarettes on him

when she was forced to kiss him for the show.

To Segal’s credit he tried to quit smoking for health reasons and so that Hannigan wouldn’t have to kiss up on his horrible breath. He even agreed to pay Hannigan $10 every time he smoked a cigarette, which ended up being a horrible idea for him. At the end of one day of shooting, he had racked up a $200 debt.

"So he said, 'I'm just quitting,' and he quit cold turkey for about a year. It was fantastic but then... he got stressed out and he started smoking again," she said.

4

Sean Young and Harrison Ford

Not only did these two hate kissing each other, they may have hated each other completely. Their issues became so bad that several producers and directors had to intervene during the filming of

Blade Runner

because

they couldn’t stand each other

.

When filming their love scene, which the crew famously dubbed “The Hate Scene,” Young had issues with Ford’s facial hair. She said his stubble hurt and tore her face up. A reasonable complaint; one that any man with stubble has probably heard before. But it was only exacerbated by the fact that she already disliked Ford.

There was a ton of hate going around this set, as many actors grew frustrated with Ridley Scott's insistence on perfect takes, which drove most of the cast to the brink. Luckily, the movie came out amazingly and it has become a sci-fi classic.

3

Emma Watson and Rupert Grint

It’s a real shame that these Harry Potter co-stars really hated kissing each other, because their romance built so amazingly over the course of the franchise. It really makes you want to believe that the connection was real, but alas, it was all just acting.

When talking about kissing Emma Watson,

Grint wasn’t too happy about the ordeal

. “I’ve known Emma since she was literally 9 years old and we had this very brother-sister relationship, and it just felt very surreal. I have a memory of her face getting closer and closer. Like, ‘Oh my God.’ I can’t really remember anything apart from that.”

Grint said he would never watch that scene again.

Watson didn’t mince words about the kissing either, “Rupert was the weirdest.” Ouch.

2

Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley

Shailene Woodley has become a bit of an enigma in Hollywood recently. She has become a bit of an “It girl" and her rise in popularity has been fast and well-received. But it’s her off-screen persona that is unbelievably odd. She has a very strange diet that includes eating clay and various other materials most people would never consider eating.

This fact wasn’t lost on Miles Teller when

they had to film a kissing scene

. “Before our first kissing scene, Shailene took these Chinese dirt supplements and shoved them in her mouth,” Teller said. “It’s like a dirt pouch, and it smells like crap.”

Woodley didn’t enjoy kissing Teller too much either. She apparently took issue with the fact that he would drink Gatorade before their kissing scenes.

1

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams

The standard for romance in filmmaking set a new high when Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams starred together in the acclaimed movie,

The Notebook

. It is easily one of the most loving, heartbreaking, and incredible movies your girlfriend will force you to watch at some point during your relationship.

Funnily enough,

Gosling and McAdams hated each other while filming

the most epic love tale in recent memory. Gosling hated McAdams so much that he even demanded that she be taken off the film. Suffice to say, they were not big fans of kissing each other, let alone filming regular, non-kissing scenes together.

Interestingly enough, these two started a real-life relationship shortly after the movie was released. There is a very fine line between love and hatred apparently.
